Child Falls From 6th Floor of Newark Ironbound Building

Newark

A 4-Year-Old child was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after he fell from the window of a building in Newark’s Ironbound section.

It happened before 2:45 p.m. in a multi-family building on Lexington Street.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the boy fell through the screen of an unsecured window then hit the concrete.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the boy, who is now in stable condition, police said.

Newark Code Enforcement inspectors were called to the building to assist in the investigation.

Officials would not say if window guards are required for the building.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
