A Sunday afternoon medical emergency at a Union Township residence left a 5-year-old boy hospitalized in critical condition after he was found in a swimming pool.
According to information released by Union Township Police, officers were dispatched shortly before 5 p.m. to a home in the 2400 block of North Third Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a neighbor performing CPR on the unresponsive child in the backyard.
Police said the boy’s mother and the neighbor had removed him from the pool before emergency responders arrived.
Union Township Police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel took over life-saving measures before the child was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Authorities said Monday that the boy remained in critical condition.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
