Charges against NFL player Khaseem Greene in connection with a shooting outside that occurred outside an Elizabeth nightclub have suddenly been dismissed.

On December 3rd, police responded to Allstar Night Club on Third Street in Elizabeth for report of shots fired.

An Investigation into the shooting identified Jason Sanders as the alleged shooter who fired a handgun into the crowd.

A further investigation allegedly revealed surveillance footage that captured Greene passing Sanders the gun.

On January 4th, authorities charged Green after Sanders also issued a voluntary statement that claimed that Greene in fact handed him the gun.

Greene's lawyer, Joshua McMahon, however alleged misconduct in how the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Elizabeth Police Department handled the case.

McMahon claimed Sanders recanted what he said about Greene's involvement however it was never noted in any police report nor was reportedly mentioned to the grand jury.

Months after the May 9th indictment, the prosecutor's office requested the charge against Greene be dropped without issuing further details or explanations as a result of the ongoing case against Sanders which remains pending.

Charges were ultimately dismissed without prejudice on July 17, court records show.

The Elizabeth Mayor nor the Elizabeth police department have commented on the dismissal.

Greene's attorney intends to bring a civil rights action to assure police and prosecutors office be held accountable for accusing an innocent man and reportedly costing him his career.
