Celebrate the Fourth of July with Fun, Fireworks, Great Music in Essex County

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to celebrate the Fourth of July with three spectacular fireworks displays and exciting concerts by New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in Essex County Branch Brook Park on Friday, June 24, Lady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience in Essex County Weequahic Park on Tuesday, June 28th and The Infernos in Essex County Brookdale Park on Friday, July 1.

“Our Free Concert Series offers a diverse lineup of performers who will take center stage in venues throughout our historic Essex County Park System.

Pack a blanket, enjoy the cool evening breeze and dance to the sounds of classical, rock and roll, jazz, big band, Latin and more. We have an outstanding line-up that is sure to entertain and impress,” DiVincenzo said. “An evening in the parks with some of the area’s most talented musicians and our Spectacular Fireworks Extravaganzas are the perfect shows for Independence Day.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Fireworks Display

Enjoy the sounds of the New Jersey Symphony under the stars!

This free outdoor program features a tribute to Sondheim, Sousa’s ode to his time in New Jersey in “The Atlantic City Pageant,” and so much more. An inspiring performance by the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Henry Lewis Concerto Competition winner rounds out this concert of favorites the whole family will love. The NJSO and Fireworks Display will be held as follows:

Lady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience and Fireworks Display

Lady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience is a spectacular tribute to the life and work of the Supreme Diva. Accompanied by top-notch singers and musicians, Deanna Carroll covers the hits of the Supremes to Diana’s solo sensations with spot-on vocals. 

She performs all of Diana’s biggest hits, including Endless Love, Someday We’ll Be Together, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Touch Me In The Morning, Do You Know Where You’re Going To, I’m Coming Out and so many more. Lady Supreme and the Fireworks Display will be held as follows:

The Infernos and Fireworks Display

Known as “America’s #1 Show Band,” The Infernos’ vast repertoire includes all genres of music, including Big Band, Oldies, Motown and today’s top chartbusters.

Founded by the late Bobby Wells, former musical director of The Duprees, the band features the voice talents of lead singer Kenny Simmons. Simmons, formerly of The Commodores, brings a powerful voice and showmanship that is sure to engage the audience.

Jukebox Legends

Joe Leo, Billy Sagarese and John Sebastian form the trio of the Jukebox Legends.

They are a tribute group singing the great songs from the 1950s to the 1970s. Over the years, the Jukebox Legends have worked as the opening act for Joey Dee & The Starlighters, The Duprees, Kenny Vance & The Planatones, The Brooklyn Bridge, Larry Chance & The Earls, The 1910 Fruitgum Company, Dennis Tufano from the Buckinghams and many other national acts. Jukebox Legends will perform as follows:

Jobonanno’s Spirit of Asbury Review

This eight-piece Jersey Shore party band has been performing in the tri-state area's top club and concert venues for over 20 years. They have opened for James Brown, The Stylistics, Eddie Money, Southside Johnny, Beaver Brown, Marshall Tucker, Felix Cavaliere and have been joined onstage numerous times by the likes of Jon Bonjovi and Bruce Springsteen. They will perform as follows:

The SummerMusic Concert Series is being sponsored by Rose Squared Productions and The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The series is also made possible, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Concerts are held at accessible sites. Persons requiring special accommodations or assistance are asked to call at least two weeks before the concert to alert staff about their needs.

The Essex County Park System was created in 1895 and is the first county park system established in the United States.

The Park System consists of more than 6,000 acres and has 23 parks, five reservations, an environmental center, a zoo, Treetop Adventure Course, an ice skating rink, roller skating rink, three public golf courses, a golf driving range, two miniature golf courses, Treetop Adventure Course, five off-leash dog facilities, a castle and the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens.
