Car Stolen From Ramsey Chased into Newark by Clifton Police

An early morning high-speed pursuit had Clifton Police lose a vehicle that was reported stolen in Ramsey and also wanted for eluding and theft in Paramus early Sunday morning.

Police in Paramus began following a silver vehicle that was reported stolen shortly before 3:20 a.m. where the driver failed to yield to officers' lights and sirens. Police say the male driver, with about three additional suspects in the car, sped his way onto the Garden State Parkway's southbound lanes where Clifton Police then joined into the pursuit.

According to preliminary reports, Paramus Police terminated the chase a short distance on the highway, but Clifton continued to follow the vehicle which barreled down the parkway.

Police say the driver exited the highway at exit 145 in East Orange where he sped through the city then straddled the borders of Newark-Irvington-East Orange with pursuing police units remaining at a close distance.

According to officials, Clifton Police lost the car in the vicinity of South 20th Street and 17th Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m. and the suspects remain at-large.

The make and model of the car could not immediately be confirmed, but the vehicle has a NJ license plate number "V67-KMM".
