There were severe injuries reported after a car crashed into a pole on a street in Paterson trapping occupants inside during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Pearl and Carroll streets to investigate reports of a crash with injuries that occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene and found a badly damaged white Ferrari wrapped around a utility pole with trapped occupants inside the vehicle.
Paterson firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove at least one severely injured person from the car then hand them over to EMS for the transport to St. Joseph's Hospital, where doctors began treatment.
Paterson authorities are attempting to determine how the driver of the vehicle lost control and slammed into the pole.
The incident remains under investigation.
