NJ State Police officials ordered all eastbound lanes closed on I-78 after a crash had one person airlifted to a hospital suffering severe injuries overnight in Watchung.
Emergency responders rushed to the eastbound lanes of I-78 after they received several reports of a crash with possible injuries near exit 41 just before 11:40 p.m.
Police and rescue crews arrived to find a severely damaged car in the grass, off the to the side of the highway, with one person heavily trapped inside according to reports.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been released, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
