A car fire on The Garden State Parkway in Union County backed up traffic Thursday evening.
According to the NJ Department of Transportation's website NJ-511, they reported the incident just after 6:45 p.m.
Offcials say the fully involved car fire, which sat on the shoulder of the highway, temporarily blocked all southbound traffic from passing as flames billowed out from the hood of the vehicle near exit 136 in Clark.
The stretch of highway between was backed up with about 20-minute delays, according to NJ-511.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control, with no injuries reported.
