Police offcials in Irvington are looking into the cause of a car fire that damaged a building in the Township Friday evening.
According to preliminary reports, Irvington emergency responders raced to the vicinity of 1016 Stuyvesant Avenue to investigate reports of a car fire just before 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and beginning to extend to a building at that location.
Fast operating township firefighters were able to get the fire under control in under ten minutes, but not before the flames caused damage to a two-story garden apartment building.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation, but there were no severe injuries reported.
