One person suffered fatal injuries in a crash on a highway in Newark Friday morning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 10:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a crash with injuries on Route 1&9 near Rome Street.
Upon arrival, officers found the crashed vehicle with an unidentified person suffering severe injuries at that location.
The injured was pronounced dead a short time later by medical professionals.
Newark Police closed the highway for the crash investigation then notified The Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
There were no other serious injuries reported.
