Authorities have arrested and charged a Camden man in connection with a string of commercial burglaries that affected businesses in both Evesham and Medford over the past two months.
Police said the incidents began on April 23, when officers in Medford responded to Sports Paradise on Hartford Road just before 11 p.m. for a reported break-in.
Several hours later, around 3 a.m., officers were called back to the same location after a second burglary occurred—this time targeting a storage trailer behind the business.
In both cases, the suspect fled before police arrived, taking merchandise with him.
The investigation expanded to Evesham on May 4, when officers responded to Hollywood Smokin’ on Route 70 for a burglary that had taken place overnight.
Police determined that forced entry had been made and a large quantity of merchandise was stolen.
On May 11, a burglar alarm brought Evesham officers to Canal’s Bottlestop, also on Route 70.
When they arrived, officers found that the front door had been forcibly breached and goods had been taken.
A week later, on May 18, Medford police returned once again to Sports Paradise for another break-in.
A suspect was spotted fleeing the area, prompting officers to initiate a vehicle pursuit.
The chase was ultimately called off due to safety concerns for the public and the fleeing driver.
Detectives from Evesham and Medford began working jointly, identifying clear links between the incidents. Investigators concluded that the same vehicle had been used in all the burglaries.
On May 21, officers from the Camden County Police Department located the vehicle and discovered it being operated by 46-year-old Bryson Anthony of Camden.
Evidence recovered during the investigation tied Anthony to the crimes in both municipalities.
He was arrested and charged in Evesham Township with burglary, criminal mischief, and theft in connection with the incidents at Hollywood Smokin’ and Canal’s Bottlestop. Medford Township also filed charges against him for the burglaries at Sports Paradise.
Anthony is currently being held in Camden County Jail on an unrelated matter and is awaiting extradition to Burlington County, where he will face his first court appearance in Superior Court.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Evesham Police Department or submit tips anonymously via text.
