Camden Man Charged in 2011 Cold Case Homicide After DNA Match

Camden County

A Camden man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2011 fatal stabbing, after a DNA match linked him to the crime more than a decade later.

According to a statement released by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, 46-year-old Kenyar Hill was charged with first-degree murder on June 26, 2025, for the death of Brian Holden, 42, of Camden.

Hill was arrested a day later by the U.S. Marshal Service and remains detained at the Camden County Correctional Facility following a court appearance on July 2.

The case dates back to October 11, 2011, when Camden police were dispatched to an abandoned home on Mechanic Street.

Inside, officers found Holden suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, Holden’s girlfriend told detectives that she had engaged in a paid sexual encounter with Hill earlier that evening.

After an argument, she claimed Hill took back his money, and a confrontation with Holden followed, during which Hill allegedly stabbed him multiple times.

DNA evidence collected during a forensic exam of the woman was submitted for testing, but did not initially yield a match in the national database. In 2022, authorities were notified of a potential match to Hill.

A follow-up DNA sample confirmed the link, according to officials.

Investigators continued pursuing leads and ultimately built a case that led to Hill’s arrest after 14 years.
