Camden County Men Arrested for Possession of Explicit Images of Minors

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo, Lindenwold Police Chief Thomas Brennan, and Pennsauken Police Chief John Coffey, reported two men were arrested last week for Possession of Explicit Images of Minors in their respective Townships.

Craig Howell, 29, of Lindenwold, was charged after detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office went to the residence on June 1, 2017 at his Lindenwold home at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Detectives seized numerous digital media devices from inside the residence and discovered images of Explicit Images of Minors during an onsite preview of Howell’s computer.

Multiple devices were seized from his residence and were taken back to Camden County Prosecutor’s Office HTCU for analysis.

Howell was charged with one third-degree count of Possession of Explicit Images of Minors, processed and released on a summons.

The following day, detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in Pennsauken at approximately 6 a.m.

Barnaby Hewsen, 42, of Pennsauken, was arrested and charged with third-degree Possession of Explicit Images of Minors when detectives conducted an onsite preview of his electronic devices.

His remaining items were seized from the residence and were taken back to Camden County Prosecutor’s Office HTCU for analysis.

Hewsen was sent to Camden County Correctional Facility on a warrant pending the pretrial detention hearing in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform.

Under the recent Criminal Justice Reform rules, the court may order Hewsen to be detained without bail or released with conditions. The pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, 2017, before Superior Court Judge Gwendolyn Blue.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

Complete analyses of the devices belonging to both Craig Howell and Barnaby Hewsen will determine final charges.
