Calm Before the Cold: One More Above-Freezing Day for Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We’re enjoying a brief stretch of calmer conditions, but don’t get too comfortable,  this is the calm before another round of frigid weather moves in this weekend.

Today marks our last day of above-freezing temperatures across Newark and the North Jersey region.

If you’re headed out to the bus stop this morning, downtown Newark is sitting at 31 degrees, with light breezes making it feel even colder.

Full winter gear is a must to stay warm.

Forecast-wise, expect mostly cloudy skies through mid-morning, followed by gradual clearing later in the day.

Highs will top out near 33 degrees, though wind chills will hover between 15 and 25 degrees with a northwest wind at 6 to 11 mph.

Tonight, skies turn partly cloudy with temperatures dropping to around 13 degrees, and a light north wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Have a great day, and stay warm out there.
