Caldwell Woman Arrested After Leading Clifton Cops, State Police on Pursuit

Police arrested a 22-year-old woman early Monday morning after they said she fled a traffic stop and led cops on a chase on the Garden State Parkway.

According to police at around midnight on Monday, Clifton Police attempted to stop a vehicle for various motor vehicle violations on Lakeview Avenue.

Police said the female driver initially stopped the vehicle, but then sped away from the scene and ended up heading south on the Parkway.

Police broke off the pursuit near Exit 145 but State Police picked continued heading south on the Parkway authorities said.

Police said, Laura Godlesky, of Caldwell, was arrested by police after she was involved in a motor vehicle crash in the area of Exit 135.

Clifton police then took custody of Godlesky, charging her with eluding police and obstruction of a governmental function.

State Police also filed charges of eluding, heroin possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence against Godlesky according to reports.

Godlesky reportedly sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway.
