Newark City officials are reporting the closings of four businesses, and 13 others issued summonses during a code enforcement operation conducted on Friday, May 11th.
According to a statement released by police, the operation was conducted by the Business Task Force, that comprised of members of the Newark Police and Fire Divisions along with the city’s Code Enforcement Division and Health Department.
Officials say the task force inspected South Ward businesses and found clear violations.
A total of 12 business establishments were inspected with 13 summonses issued. The following businesses were closed due to code violations:
**Fasco Supermarket**, located at 266 Lyons Avenue
• **New King Kitchen**, located at 818 Clinton Avenue
• **Abdul Family Member Store**, located at 513 Clinton Avenue
• **Nimale Variety Store**, located at 366 Chancellor Avenue
“These operations are conducted to determine that the businesses operating in the City of Newark are doing so in a way that ensures the public’s safety,” Director Ambrose said. “I commend members of the Business Task Force for their continued hard work to safeguard lives and property through these important inspections.”
The Business Task Force continues to investigate.
