Burlington Mart Robbed at Gunpoint; 17-Year-Old Suspect Arrested

A report of an armed robbery in progress at a local mart resulted in the arrest of an armed 17-year-old teen last night.

City of Burlington Police Department was dispatched to the area of the Super Speedy Mart and Indian Bazaar, located on Route 130 South and Federal Street, for a report of an armed robbery in progress, Monday around 6:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the suspect in a physical confrontation with the store clerks.

Officers entered the business and placed the armed suspect into custody.

The store clerk sustained minor injuries after being struck with the handgun, which was later found to be a pellet gun. He was transported to Lourdes Medical Center by the Endeavor Emergency Squad, where he was treated and later released.

The suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, of Willingboro, was charged with robbery, criminal mischief, and simple assault.

He was transported and lodged in the Burlington County Juvenile Detention Center.
