There is an active and ongoing investigation underway into a shots-fired incident that caused property damaged in a neighborhood in Newark overnight.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 297 South 6th Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. sending several police officers to the scene to investigate.
Upon officer's arrival, they immediately taped off the area after locating several vehicles struck by bullets at that location.
Newark Police officials contacted several hospitals in the region for possible walk-in victims while detectives canvassed the scene for potential casualties.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been reported.
