A police operation is underway in Newark's Ironbound section following a shooting incident that occurred early in this evening.
At around 5:10 p.m., Newark Police were alerted to gunfire at Hyatt Court, within the single-digit block of Roanoke Avenue.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered nearly three dozen shell casings and observed that a building had been struck by bullets.
The area has been secured with police tape, and Newark's Shooting Response Team has been called in to assist with the investigation.
No injuries have been reported as of now, despite the extensive gunfire.
The shooter fled the scene and remains at large. The motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined.
