Bronx Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Newark

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating a fatal hit-and-run. 

Authorities said at approximately 5:14 pm Walter Harden, 62, of the Bronx, N.Y., was struck and killed in the 600 block of Doremus Avenue in Newark. He was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital at 6:44 p.m.

The victim was on his way to work at the Newark Energy Center located at 955 Delancy Center. He was scheduled to work the night shift. 

The investigation is active an ongoing. At this time the driver of the vehicle has not been identified.
