According to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Deszon J. Moore, 43, of the Bronx, has been charged with arson-related offenses, criminal mischief, and hindering apprehension.

The incident occurred around 3:46 a.m. on March 18, when police and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot on Bergen Boulevard in Fort Lee. Responders found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, which was later extinguished.

Following a preliminary investigation, officials determined the fire was suspicious.

A joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad, Bergen County Arson Task Force, and Fort Lee Police revealed that Moore allegedly used an accelerant to intentionally set the vehicle on fire before fleeing the area.

Authorities tracked Moore to the Bronx later that same day, where he was taken into custody with assistance from the New York City Police Department.
