Broken Water Pipe Evacuates Newark School

School officials announced that students and school personnel were briefly evacuated today at Luis Munoz Marin Middle School after a water pipe in a Boy’s restroom burst, activating the building’s fire alarm system.

Newark Police and Fire divisions responded to the school, located at 663 Broadway, at approximately 10:10 a.m.

According to officials, students and staff were evacuated outside the building for approximately 8 minutes until it was determined that activation of the fire alarm was caused by the ruptured pipe.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident authorities said.
