A 35-year-old Bridgeton man pleaded guilty Thursday to explicit contact of a 12-year-old child he met through online platforms, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors said Alex Torres-Lopez used Snapchat and Roblox to communicate with the minor before arranging multiple meetings in Trenton during the fall of 2025, where the sexual assaults occurred.

Authorities said Torres-Lopez also had the victim send him sexually explicit images and videos.

The investigation began in January 2026 after Trenton Police alerted detectives with the Special Victims Unit that a child living in the city had allegedly been explicitly contacted.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors said the state will recommend that Torres-Lopez receive a 20-year state prison sentence without eligibility for parole.

Sentencing is pending.
