It’s a colder and messier start to the end of the workweek across Newark and much of North Jersey.

Good Friday morning. Temperatures are sitting at 34 degrees in Newark’s Central Ward, and while we’ve made it to the end of the week, we’re waking up to soggy roads, breezy conditions, and what can best be described as a slick and unsettled morning commute.
A winter weather advisory is tracking into New Jersey from the west, bringing periods of rain and the potential for some areas to see mixed or frozen precipitation through midday, according to weather officials.
While this won’t be a complete washout, residents are encouraged to keep umbrellas handy and use caution on area roadways.
The breeze will stick with us for much of the day, making temperatures feel colder than they appear.
Some neighborhoods will struggle to climb out of the 30s, while others may briefly touch the low 40s — but gusty winds will keep it feeling brisk.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. today, with a high near 41 degrees.
East winds between 8 and 10 mph are forecast, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Rainfall totals could range between a quarter and half an inch.

Tonight, there remains a 30 percent chance of rain, primarily before 7 p.m., followed by gradual clearing and an overnight low around 35 degrees.
If you’re heading out, bundle up, drive carefully, and allow yourself a little extra time on this messy Friday morning.
