Police in Newark and authorities in neighboring municipalities have been notified of a vehicle that was stolen with a child inside in Newark this evening.
It happened around 8:35 p.m. in the vicinity of 250 Lyons Avenue in the city’s South Ward.
Police say the suspects jumped in a white Suburu with temp tags left running with a 7-year-old girl in the rear seat.
The child reportedly has on a purple shirt and purple pants.
Police say the suspect did not show a weapon and no force was initiated during the incident.
As of 8:48 p.m., police have not located the vehicle or the little girl.
UPDATE 8:54 pm Vehicle located in the 30’s block of Aldine. There is a heavy police search for the child.
UPDATE 8:58 pm Child found safe in the 200 block of Leslie.
