BREAKING: Violent Overnight in Newark Ends with Multiple Shots Fired Incidents, One Dead

Newark

A violent week of out of control shootings in Newark has spilled over into the weekend with the Essex County Prosecutor's Office leading an investigation into a double shooting that reportedly  left one victim confirmed dead in Newark's Central Ward Saturday morning.

In one of about a half dozen shootings that occurred in the city overnight, police units rushed to the vicinity of 11 Brenner Street on reports of shots fired just before 3:15 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple shell casings littering that scene, with two seriously injured victims suffering gunshot wounds at that location.

One of the unidentified victims was pronounced dead a short time later.

Newark Police detectives taped off the area and initiated the investigation before The Essex  County Prosecutor's Office launched their efforts to determine the motive for the shooting and continued to search for evidence.

The investigation is active and ongoing, with no arrests reported.
