A person was injured Monday morning after a vehicle exploded in Totowa, according to preliminary emergency dispatch reports.

The explosion occurred shortly before 5:40 a.m. in the area of 12 Continental Circle. Emergency responders were dispatched after reports of a vehicle explosion with one victim.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle may have belonged to a plumbing contractor, and investigators are looking into whether a leaking acetylene tank inside the vehicle exploded when it was started.
Authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of the blast.
The explosion left the vehicle completely destroyed, scattering debris across the roadway and nearby sidewalk. Fire officials reported there was no active fire upon arrival, though EMS responded to treat at least one injured person.
The building department and crime scene investigators were requested to the scene as officials work to determine what caused the explosion.
The condition of the injured person has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
