BREAKING UPDATE: Third Victim Dies From Early Morning Route 22 Crash in Newark

RLS Media has confirmed the third fatality for a male involved in a violent early morning crash on a highway in Newark.

We are refusing to release the name of the victims, but The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said the third casualty is a male who was pronounced dead this afternoon.

According to a preliminary investigation, the crash happened just before 11 p.m. In the eastbound lanes of Route 22 in Newark.

Police say the driver of the Cadillac CTS somehow lost control of the car then crashed.

The impact of the collision caused the car to burst into flames, according to a preliminary investiagtion.

In a statement to our RLS Media morning staff, The Essex County Prosecutor said the following at 6:06 a.m:

”We can confirm that the Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the incident with two victims died on the scene at this time. It is still early in the investigation.”

A total of five victims were in the car; all were under the age of 20. Police say, two males, from Newark- died and a female from Newark perished in the crash.

According to authorities, two other female victims are receiving treatment for severe burns at St. Barnabus Hospital in Livingston.

They remain in critical condition.

The cause of the crash has not been determined. There are no official reports of other cars involved at this time.
