BREAKING UPDATE: Man Found Shot at Newark West Ward Gas Station Dies

Newark

RLS Media has learned and confirmed that a male found shot at a gas station in the city's West Ward has died from his injuries.

The violent encounter unfolded around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Mountainview Place and Sandford Avenue.

The upper Vailsburg neighborhood known for continuous violent incidents had police again rushing to the scene of shots fired last night.

When officers arrived, they found a severely injured male suffering bullet wounds at the gas station.

According to sources, the victim was not an employee of the establishment, and it is not clear if robbery was the motive at this time.

The unidentified male was rushed to University Hospital, where sources told RLS Media that doctors made the pronouncement.

Police have not released information on an arrest, and The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.

The recent deadly shooting is the second confirmed homicide in Newark since 2022.

There is no word on how many other murders there have been this year.
