BREAKING: Two Women Among Multiple Newark South Ward Shooting Victims

There is a large police presence in  Newark’s South Ward as detectives attempt to piece together the motive for a shooting that has four people injured with at least one dead this evening.   

Police said at approximately 9:15 p.m., a gunman blasted rounds of gunfire in the direction of two women in the vicinity of Bergen and Nye Avenue.  Shooting  

When police arrived, they secured the scene and began assessing the carnage at three locations along Bergen Street.   

Four victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds with at least one of the injured  confirmed dead at the bloodied scene occurring in the 900 block of Bergen Street.   

Police found over a dozen shell casings while searching the neighborhood according to authorities. 

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and will lead the investigation while the Essex County Sheriff’s Office assists in the active and ongoing investigation. 

At this time, RLS Media has only observed one individual being transported to University Hospital suffering severe injuries. 

Police believe suspects are occupying a silver Jeep Cherokee confirmed stolen out of Orange with reported NJ license plate numbers “silver N50-MZK”.  Shooting

Newark’s South Ward was the scene of another shooting that occurred early Saturday morning where gunfire struck a person near 279 Goldsmith just before 1 a.m.
