BREAKING: Two Newark Police Officers Injured in Overturned Vehicle

Newark

Two Newark Police officers have been transported to University Hospital for treatment after their cruiser overturned on a street in the city’s West Ward Tuesday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Maybaum and Oraton Parkway just before 7:25 a.m.

Police say the officer's vehicle crashed into a civilian car causing the police cruiser to overturn trapping the cops inside.

Newark emergency responders were able to extricate the seriously injured officers, according to officials safely.

One civilian suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police officials have not confirmed a police pursuit, although residents say the vehicles were traveling high rates of speed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Except some delays in the area as the crash is in close proximity to the Garden State Parkway.
