BREAKING: Teen Among Five Injured in Jersey City Mass Shooting

A teenage boy was among five victims injured in a mass casualty shooting incident in Jersey City Thursday night. 

Police responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the area of 259 Van Nostrand Avenue around 9:30 p.m.   

Units arrived and found a 14-year-old child suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg.   

While police officers processed the scene, they learned that several other victims entered Jersey City Medical Center’s emergency department suffering various severe and critical injuries.   

There were about five total victims shot at the above location. One person was detained and is believed to be the shooter. 

Police are also looking into a shots-fired incident at 118 Virginia Avenue. Authorities have not confirmed if any of the victims were shot at this address at this time.   

Investigators from The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office were notified of the shooting.
