BREAKING: Shooting Near Schools Injured Two in Newark’s West Ward

In a concerning turn of events, Newark's West Ward has become the scene of a double shooting that resulted in injuries of two children.AdThe incident, which unfolded around 2:55 p.m. near the Golden Pizzeria on South Orange Avenue close to 11th Street, has drawn a significant police presence.

Upon responding to reports of gunfire, police officers discovered two children, 15 and 14 years old (boy & girl), suffering from gunshot wounds to their arms and stomach.

The severity of the situation was heightened due to the proximity of West Side High and a nearby charter school, both of which were promptly secured in the wake of the shooting.Ad The young victims were quickly transported to University Hospital. As of now, they are both in stable condition.

Authorities are yet to identify a suspect in the case, and no arrests have been made so far.

Residents and visitors are advised to avoid the area as the investigation is actively ongoing, and police are working to piece together the circumstances of this tragic event.
