Passaic County officials are investigating a mass casualty shooting that injured as many as five victims in Paterson Wednesday.

The early morning shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. near 49 Jersey Street.

According to a preliminary investigation, police were dispatched to the address after learning of shots fired in the area. When they arrived, officers found two severely injured victims suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Both individuals were administered CPR before being rushed to the hospital, where their condition's extent has been reported as 'grave".

While police and detectives collected evidence at the shooting scene, St. Josephs's Hospital officials notified police that two additional victims entered the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.

Police say another gunshot victim walked into Hackensack University.
