By: Richard L. Smith

After a months-long search, RLS Media has that law enforcement finally apprehended a juvenile suspect wanted for a violent carjacking at a shopping center in Hudson County.

The juvenile, who also has multiple felonies pending in Newark, was arrested this morning and taken to Kearny Police headquarters for processing before 8 a.m.

The carjacking occurred at the Kearny Shoprite parking lot in February 2022, prompting Kearny Police to seek the public's assistance in identifying the suspect for months.

Kearny Police told RLS Media that during the incident, the male victim was pushed to the ground while loading groceries, and the suspect sped away with a child inside the vehicle.

Fortunately, RLS Media observed the police act swiftly and located the car near the intersection of Central and Passaic Avenues in East Newark, with the child unharmed inside.

The suspect was described as a medium dark-haired male wearing a hoodie during the carjacking.

The Newark juvenile resident was positively identified as the suspect by police.
