BREAKING: One Dead in Newark North Ward House Fire

Firefighters are on the scene battling a fire that's engulfing a house, with one person confirmed dead in Newark at this time. 

It happened at 412 Roseville Avenue just at the border of the city’s North and West wards around 12:38 p.m. 

Crews arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke and ferocious flames tearing through the roof of a two and a half wood-framed structure. 

Firefighters were able to get inside the burning building, where they found one unconscious and unresponsive adult male on the second floor. 

Police say that victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and a man were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. 

As of 1:19 p.m., firefighters continued to stretch multiple lines and pour water on the blaze with no control immediately reported. 

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has been notified, as are responding.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
