BREAKING: NJ State Police Aviation Assists in a Search for Person Seen in Passaic River

The NJ State Police Aviation Unit is assisting in a search for a person in the Passaic River this evening.

According to preliminary reports, at approximately 6:20 p.m., emergency responders, divers, and rescue crews responded to the River Road side of the Passaic River in Passaic after receiving a report of a person in the river.

Upon arrival, crew begin a frantic search for the unidentified person who was observed struggling to stay alive in the middle of the Passaic River.

Police say it's not clear how the person got in the water at this time.

The search is active with several Bergen County Police Departments assisting.

**UPDATE 9:22 p.m.** Body of a 17-year-old boy recovered after he jumped off a bridge near the Passaic/Wallungton border. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
