EMS rushed a teenaged boy to University Hospital after he was gunned down while waiting apparently waiting for a bus in Newark’s South Ward.
According to preliminary reports, it happened in the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. where police say a silver vehicle occupied by armed suspects began to open fire near the bus stop striking the boy in the back and leg.
The boy then reportedly made his way to a house on Milford Avenue where someone called the police.
The suspects sped away from the scene on Elizabeth Avenue and remain at-large.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
