BREAKING: Newark Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting That Hospitalized Several

Newark authorities are conducting an active investigation into a shooting that sent as many as three people to the hospital early Thursday morning.AdThe incident occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the area of 121 Shephard Avenue. A ShotSpotter device alerted officers to the gunfire.

Upon arrival, cops found a vehicle with several bullet holes but no victims at the scene. 

During their investigation, police officials learned that four individuals had been dropped off at Beth Israel Hospital suffering from bullet wounds.

The victims arrived in a private vehicle, which officers later secured after discovering multiple bullet holes.

Shooting Witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored sedan speeding away from the scene, believed to be occupied by the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting.

Reports say one of the victims was transferred from Beth Israel Hospital to University Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.AdThe motive for the attack has not yet been determined, and the suspects remain at large.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more information.
