The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene of a shooting that killed one person and injured two others in a Newark South Ward barbershop this evening.
According to police, gunfire rang out inside the Cut Creators Barber Shop located in the 80’s block of Clinton Place just before 8:40 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found three people struck by bullets at that location.
Authorities have confirmed that one of the victims has been pronounced dead while the other two males were rushed to University Hospital for treatment.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and the suspect remains at-large.
UPDATE 10:10PM Officer assaulted/injured while controlling the crowd. Non-life threatening mouth and hand injury. Another officer suffered minor injuries from a person who attempted to cross the yellow tape.
