There is a homicide investigation underway in a neighborhood in Newark's South Ward as detectives are on the scene investigating a shooting that has a woman dead at this time.
Police were called to the vicinity of 191 Scheerer Avenue after recieving reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers reportedly found an unconscious and unresponsive female inside a vehicle at that location.
Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
A grey vehicle occupied by at least one suspect sped away from the scene in the car after firing shots.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office will take over the investigation.
