Police in Newark are on the scene of a shooting with two victims down in a section of the city's West Ward at this time.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Smith Street and South Orange Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found two victims suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the pair were transported to University Hospital for treatment and their conditions could not immediately be confirmed.
There is an active crime scene established and an investigation underway.
