BREAKING NEWARK NJ: Three-Alarm Fire Rips Through Newark South Ward House

You are looking at images coming into our RLS Metro information space of a three-alarm fire that's tearing through a multi-family house in Newark's South Ward at this time.

According to a preliminary report, the massive fire tore through the roof of a house located in the vicinity of 183-187 Johnson Avenue at around 9:15 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where more than two dozen crew members battled the blaze that destroyed the wood-framed structure.

Firefighters are battling flames that has extended to at least one other neighboring home.

The Malcolm X. Shabazz High School is in proximity to the fire, but we are not receiving reports of an evacuation at that time.

There are no injuries reported, but crews are making their way into the house for searches of all floors.

**UPDATE: 10:13am** There are no trapped occupants at this time.
