There are serious injuries reported in several shootings that occurred in separate Newark neighborhoods.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out at around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Spruce Street sending police to the scene where they found a male suffering gunshot wounds to the chest.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital in severe condition.
At approximately the same time as the Central Ward shooting, police were rushed to the 80's block of Chelsea where they arrived to find a female victim, around the age of 20-years-old, suffering gunshot wounds to the stomach, arm, and leg reports said.
A male victim was found suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound at that location.
The pair were rushed to University Hospital where they are undergoing treatment by doctors.
There are crime scenes established at both locations.
Avoid the areas for the police investigation.
