Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI Fugitives Task Force arrested Anthony M. Brown, 30, of Newark for the murder of Mr. Richard Culver, 23, also of Newark.
Police said Dec. 2, 2017 Culver was discovered with fatal gunshot wounds in Vailsburg Park in Newark. Today, Brown was taken into custody and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon.
Brown was processed and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
The charges are accusations.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
