A medivac helicopter is on the scene of a crash with several people injured on a major highway in Newark at this time.
Details are developing but according to preliminary reports, a tractor-trailer heading northbound near mile marker 105 -Newark Airport- somehow lost control and overturned; crushing the trailer of the truck and spilling debris onto the roadway.
It appears that a car that attempted to avoid the debris slammed into the guard rail or the side of the trailer causing several injuries inside the car.
At least one person will be airlifted to the hospital suffering critical injuries and about two others have non-life-threatening injuries. We can not confirm what vehicle the critical patient was riding in.
The truck lanes are closed, but the car lanes have rubbernecking delays at this time.
We are awaiting an official report from the NJ State Police.
**UPDATE NJSP:** Happened at 11:26 a.m. northbound truck lanes near milepost 105.5 Newark. Two trucks and a passenger vehicle collided with one truck overturning. One person medivac to University in Newark.
