City officials and utility crews are on the scene investigating a power outage that is affecting multiple homes and businesses in the city's Ironbound section at this time.
According to PSEG, power went down to about 1200 homes and businesses in the areas of Merchant, Chambers, and Ferry streets just before 5 a.m.
Crews are investigating and working on the cause of the outage.

Newark Police have stepped up visibility in the area and are heavily patrolling that section of the city.
