Police are on the scene of the shooting with a man down in the City’s Central Ward at this time.
Gunfire rang out in the vicinity of South 10th Street and Gareis streets at around 6:50 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found a male victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
EMS are on the scene where they are preparing the victim for transport to the hospital. The victim is suffering from ‘grave’ injuries.
The victim has been struck in the neck and abdomen according to preliminary reports.
Please avoid the area for the police investigation.
UPDATE 7:47 PM This is now a homicide investigation with the Essex County Prosecutor's Office taking the lead.
