This breaking information comes in as a stabbing of at least two children at a location in Newark's North Ward at this time.
According to Newark Police officials, The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the incident where the victims were stabbed in the vicinity of Highland and Park avenues near Barringer High School just before 11 a.m.
Police arrived at the scene and found the young victims suffering stab injuries at that location, according to reports. One of the victims has been pronounced dead, but there is no confirmation on the second victim's condition.
The investigation is active and ongoing, according to police.
Authorities have not confirmed the ages of the victims at this time.
