Our second fire of the morning came in a short distance from the Avon Avenue multi-family blaze at approximately 5:30 a.m.
According to fire officials, heavy fire tore through the roof of a three-story wood framed house located in the 900 block of South 18th Street where crews, who were battling the house fire on Avenue Avenue, headed to this blaze.
Officials say, the vacant structure was searched for trapped and injured occupants but came back negative.
As of our opening of the news morning at 5:59 a.m., the fire was not declared under control.
The cause eof the fire is under investigation. No injuries reported at this time.
